The Master of Fine Arts program in the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies is an interdisciplinary degree offered in collaboration with the Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The degree combines film, video, interactive media and computer animation faculty with computer science and engineering faculty, with the aim of fostering in our graduate students innovative approaches to digital entertainment that stretch creative and scientific boundaries.

Computer Animation

Computer Animation, taught by Tami Sorgente, will be offered for Spring 2011 on the FAU Boca campus.  Check out the 2008 syllabus under the Courses tab.  If you are taking this course, get familiar with some of the tools you’ll be using.  Download Gimp and Blender, free 2D and 3D tools.  You can find links for these under the Development Tools tab.

Android and Animation

This video shows a small scale checkers game I implemented on Android using a library from badlogic games(libgdx).  The point of the project was to be able to play different animations on command and have control over the camera so that it can focus on the specific piece performing the animation.
